FAQ

ERP and construction. The short answers.

What companies in the ancillary trades ask before the first call. No module catalogue.

What is an ERP?

An ERP is the system where the commercial work comes together: quote, purchasing, stock, hours, invoice, accounts. Not five programs and a spreadsheet beside them. The job is the thread, from the first quote to the final cost.

What are the advantages of SaaS?

The software runs with the provider, not on a server in the basement. Updates arrive without the IT team giving up a weekend. Office, site and home office work on the same data. Backup and operations no longer sit in your own rack. The licence is predictable. Where a company needs the server in-house, that remains possible.

What is an ERP for construction?

Microsoft Business Central runs finance, purchasing, inventory, sales, projects, assembly and service in one system. For construction that means hours, materials and billing hang on the job, not on a second list.

Which trades is it for?

The focus is the ancillary trades: electrical, sprinklers, heating, drywall, plumbing, ventilation and building services. We also work in main construction. There Microsoft Business Central is the ERP, and estimating stays in the specialist program.

Does the ERP replace estimating?

In the ancillary trades the day-to-day work runs in the ERP. In main construction the bill, measurement and estimating stay in the specialist program, for example in RIB iTWO. The link runs over the REST interface. We do not rebuild the estimate.

Does service need the Premium licence?

No. Maintenance and breakdowns run as a job, without a Business Central Premium licence too. Manufacturing sits on the Premium plan.

What about technical installations?

The branch solution sits on Microsoft Business Central, not beside it. An installation belongs to a building. Maintenance, breakdowns, materials and the invoice hang on it. Project work and service stay distinguishable in the same ERP.

Will the system still take updates?

What Microsoft Business Central can do stays standard. We close gaps through AppSource, Continia and Anvaigo EDI Connect. Not a custom build that fears every update.

How does an implementation start?

With a no-obligation call. We start from your work, not from a module plan. Then we say clearly whether it fits your company.
